William Pelham Barr is an American attorney who served as U.S. Attorney General under George H. W. Bush from 1991 to 1993 and again under Donald Trump from 2019 to 2020. As attorney general for Trump he publicly mischaracterized the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation in a four-page summary that preceded the report's release, ordered the violent dispersal of peaceful protesters from Lafayette Square in June 2020 to facilitate Trump's Bible-photo opportunity outside St. John's Church, and intervened in federal cases involving Trump associates Roger Stone and Michael Flynn.
