Whitney Elizabeth Houston was an American singer and actress, often referred to simply as "the Voice," whose four-octave vocal range and technical command made her one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with worldwide sales of more than 220 million records. Her breakthrough self-titled 1985 debut and 1992 soundtrack The Bodyguard each became among the best-selling albums of all time, and she earned six Grammy Awards along with countless American Music and Billboard awards. She died at age 48 in February 2012 and was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.
