Warren Gamaliel Harding was the 29th president of the United States, serving from 1921 until his death in office in August 1923. His administration was engulfed by the Teapot Dome scandal, in which Interior Secretary Albert B. Fall accepted bribes to lease federal oil reserves to private companies; Fall became the first U.S. cabinet official ever convicted and imprisoned for crimes committed in office. Harding had multiple extramarital affairs, including a long relationship with Nan Britton that produced a daughter who was confirmed by DNA testing in 2015 to be his.
