Venus Ebony Starr Williams is an American professional tennis player who has been ranked world No. 1 in both singles and doubles by the Women's Tennis Association, with seven Grand Slam singles titles, including five at Wimbledon, and 22 doubles titles, fourteen with her sister Serena. She won the gold medal in singles at Sydney 2000 and three more Olympic golds in doubles. Her advocacy was central to the All England Club's 2007 decision to award equal prize money to women at Wimbledon.
