Sir Anthony Charles Lynton Blair served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2007 as Labour leader and committed British forces to the 2003 invasion of Iraq alongside U.S. President George W. Bush. The 2016 Chilcot Report found that he presented the case for war on the basis of intelligence about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction that was "presented with a certainty that was not justified," that peaceful options for disarmament had not been exhausted, and that the legal basis for invasion was "far from satisfactory." Estimates of Iraqi civilian deaths during the war and subsequent occupation range from approximately 200,000 to over a million.
