Steven John Carell is an American actor and comedian best known for playing Michael Scott on the NBC sitcom The Office from 2005 to 2011, earning a Golden Globe Award and six Primetime Emmy nominations. His film career spans broad comedies including The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Anchorman as well as serious dramatic turns in Foxcatcher (2014), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, The Big Short, and Vice. He has continued to alternate comedy and drama through the 2020s with leading roles in The Patient and The Morning Show.
