Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marquess of Dalí de Púbol, was a Spanish surrealist painter renowned for the technical skill, precise draftsmanship, and dreamlike imagery of his work, including the iconic 1931 painting The Persistence of Memory. He collaborated with Luis Buñuel on the surrealist short film Un Chien Andalou (1929), with Walt Disney on the animated short Destino, and with Alfred Hitchcock on the dream sequence for Spellbound. The Dalí Theatre and Museum he designed in his hometown of Figueres remains one of the most visited art museums in Spain.
