Rush Limbaugh was an American conservative radio host whose nationally syndicated program spread climate change denial and COVID-19 misinformation while broadcasting decades of racist, sexist, and homophobic invective, including mocking Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease and calling law student Sandra Fluke a “slut.” He was arrested in 2006 on felony charges of prescription drug fraud for illegally obtaining thousands of opioid pills, cementing a legacy defined by inflammatory rhetoric and the mainstreaming of political hate speech.
