Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor was an American stand-up comedian and actor regarded as one of the greatest comedians of all time and a foundational figure of the modern American comedy form. His landmark concert films That Nigger's Crazy (1974), …Is It Something I Said? (1975), Live in Concert (1979), and Live on the Sunset Strip (1982) brought Black American life and language to mainstream comedy audiences and reshaped what stand-up could do. He won five Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy, and the inaugural Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 1998.
