Dana Elaine Owens, known professionally as Queen Latifah, is an American rapper, singer, and actress who has been one of hip-hop's most enduring crossover figures. Her 1989 debut album All Hail the Queen and 1993's Black Reign helped establish women in hip-hop, and her acting career has earned an Academy Award nomination for Chicago (2002), a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy for Bessie (2015), and three SAG Awards. In 2006 she became the first hip-hop artist honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
