Prince William is the heir apparent to the British throne and Prince of Wales, the elder son of Charles III and Diana, Princess of Wales. His March 2022 royal tour of the Caribbean with Catherine, Princess of Wales, drew widespread protest and was described by Caribbean leaders as a tone-deaf colonial spectacle, with Jamaica's prime minister using the visit to formally announce intentions to remove the monarch as head of state. He has continued to draw on the Duchy of Cornwall's tax-advantaged £1 billion estate and inherited his father's Duchy properties in 2022 without paying inheritance tax.
