Pierre Curie

Pierre Curie was a French physicist and chemist who was a pioneer in crystallography, magnetism, piezoelectricity, and radioactivity. Working alongside his wife Marie Curie, he shared the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics with her and Henri Becquerel for their joint research on radiation phenomena, making the Curies the first married couple to share a Nobel Prize. He died at age 46 after being struck by a horse-drawn cart on a Paris street in 1906, leaving Marie to continue their work alone.
