Natalie Portman, born Natalie Hershlag, is an Israeli-American actress, producer, and director who won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Black Swan (2010). Beginning her screen career as a child in Léon: The Professional (1994), she went on to appear in the Star Wars prequels, V for Vendetta, Closer, Jackie, and the Marvel Thor films. She graduated from Harvard with a degree in psychology in 2003 and has since spoken out publicly on issues including Israeli politics, women's rights, and animal welfare.
