Michael Thomas Flynn is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general who served as the 24th national security advisor for the first 24 days of the first Trump administration before resigning amid revelations he had misled Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. He pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about those contacts, only to receive a presidential pardon from Trump in November 2020. He has since become a leading figure in QAnon and Christian-nationalist circles, publicly calling for martial law to overturn the 2020 election and for the establishment of a single state religion.
