Leonard Cohen
1934 – 2016
dead
Leonard Norman Cohen was a Canadian singer-songwriter, poet, and novelist whose deeply literary songs—including "Suzanne," "Hallelujah," "Famous Blue Raincoat," and "Anthem"—made him one of the defining voices of late-20th-century popular music. After publishing acclaimed poetry and novels, he turned to recording in 1967 with his debut Songs of Leonard Cohen and continued releasing albums into 2016, with the posthumous Thanks for the Dance appearing in 2019. He toured into his late 70s after his manager misappropriated his retirement savings, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
