Kim Jong-un

Kim Jong Un is a North Korean dictator who has served as supreme leader of the country since the death of his father Kim Jong Il in late 2011. He consolidated power early in his tenure by ordering the executions of senior officials including his uncle Jang Song-thaek—reportedly killed by anti-aircraft fire—and the 2017 assassination of his half-brother Kim Jong-nam with VX nerve agent at Kuala Lumpur airport. He has rapidly expanded the country's nuclear-weapons and intercontinental ballistic missile programs, conducted multiple nuclear and missile tests in defiance of UN sanctions, and presided over a sustained tightening of the prison-camp system.
