Julius Streicher

Julius Streicher was a German Nazi Party publisher and Gauleiter of Franconia who founded the antisemitic newspaper Der Stürmer in 1923, producing two decades of incitement to genocide on its pages. The Nuremberg tribunal convicted him of crimes against humanity in 1946 specifically for the propaganda role of Der Stürmer in preparing the German public to accept the Holocaust, and he was hanged in October 1946—the only journalist among the defendants. His final words on the gallows were "Heil Hitler."
