Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton is an American politician, lawyer, and diplomat who served as the 67th United States Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, U.S. Senator from New York from 2001 to 2009, and First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001. In 2016 she became the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, the first woman to win a major U.S. party's nomination and the only woman to win the popular vote in a U.S. presidential election. Across decades of public service she has championed children's health, women's rights, and access to health care.
