Guillermo del Toro Gómez is a Mexican filmmaker and author whose work blends fairy tale, gothic horror, and political fable. His 2006 fantasy Pan's Labyrinth, set in Franco's Spain, won three Academy Awards, and his 2017 fantasy romance The Shape of Water won four including Best Picture and Best Director. His subsequent work includes the Oscar-winning stop-motion adaptation Pinocchio (2022) and the anthology series Cabinet of Curiosities.
