Francis Albert Sinatra was an American singer and actor whose six-decade career sold an estimated 150 million records worldwide and made him one of the defining popular musicians of the 20th century. After early stardom with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra, he reinvented himself in the 1950s with the concept albums he recorded for Capitol Records and later founded Reprise Records in 1960. He won 11 Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, and an Academy Award for his supporting role in From Here to Eternity (1953).
