dead
Ernest Miller Hemingway was an American novelist, short-story writer, and journalist whose stripped-down prose style profoundly shaped 20th-century fiction. His novels The Sun Also Rises (1926), A Farewell to Arms (1929), For Whom the Bell Tolls (1940), and the late novella The Old Man and the Sea (1952) drew on his experiences in Paris between the wars, the Spanish Civil War, and the wars he covered as a correspondent. He received the 1953 Pulitzer Prize for The Old Man and the Sea and the 1954 Nobel Prize in Literature.
