David Vitter

David Bruce Vitter is a former U.S. senator from Louisiana who served from 2005 to 2017. In 2007 his name and home telephone number were found in the records of the District of Columbia's Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, prompting his public acknowledgment of "a very serious sin in my past" and an apology alongside his wife at a televised press conference. He had built his political identity on "family values" rhetoric and continued to be re-elected after the scandal before losing the 2015 Louisiana governor's race to Democrat John Bel Edwards.
