Sir Christopher Edward Nolan is a British-American filmmaker whose intricately structured genre films—including Memento (2000), The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception (2010), Interstellar (2014), Dunkirk (2017), and Tenet (2020)—have grossed more than $6 billion worldwide. He won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director in 2024 for Oppenheimer, his $1 billion biopic of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and the Manhattan Project. He was knighted in the 2024 New Year Honours for services to film.
