Charles Manson was an American criminal and cult leader who founded the Manson Family and ordered the 1969 Tate–LaBianca murders in Los Angeles. His followers carried out these killings, murdering nine people in a series of brutal home invasions at his direction. He was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for orchestrating the atrocities.
