William James O'Reilly Jr. is an American conservative political commentator who hosted The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News from 1996 to 2017, the highest-rated cable news program for nearly all of its run. He was forced out of Fox News in 2017 after a New York Times investigation revealed that he and Fox had paid roughly $13 million across at least five sexual-harassment settlements with female colleagues; subsequent reporting raised the documented total to about $45 million. He has continued podcasting and publishing his Killing… series of popular history books since his departure.
