Amy Vivian Coney Barrett is an American jurist who has served as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court since 2020. Her nomination by President Donald Trump and confirmation by the Republican-controlled Senate just eight days before the 2020 presidential election broke a confirmation precedent Senate Republicans had themselves invoked in 2016 to block Merrick Garland's nomination. She has since voted with the Court's conservative majority to overturn Roe v. Wade in Dobbs, narrow the Voting Rights Act, and grant Donald Trump significant immunity from criminal prosecution.
