Alberto Salazar is an American former track coach and long-distance runner who won the New York City Marathon three times in the early 1980s and the 1982 Boston Marathon, and went on to coach Olympic medalists Mo Farah and Galen Rupp at the Nike Oregon Project. In September 2019 he was banned from track and field for four years by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency for trafficking testosterone, tampering with the doping-control process, and administering prohibited methods to his athletes, and in 2021 he was permanently banned by the U.S. Center for SafeSport over emotional and physical-abuse misconduct toward female athletes.
