Baron Sugar is a British businessman who founded the consumer-electronics company Amstrad in 1968 and has hosted the BBC's The Apprentice since 2005. He drew widespread condemnation in 2018 after posting a doctored photograph of the Senegal football team on Twitter alongside images of luxury sunglasses and handbags with the caption "I recognise some of these guys from the beach in Marbella," a tweet which the Equality and Human Rights Commission and antiracism campaigners described as overtly racist. He has repeatedly used his platform to attack trade unions, junior doctors, and striking rail workers, and has held a Conservative-aligned seat in the House of Lords as a crossbencher since 2009 despite previously sitting as a Labour peer.
