Alfred Charles Sharpton Jr. is an American Baptist minister and civil rights activist who founded the National Action Network in 1991 and has since become one of the most prominent national voices on issues of police violence and racial discrimination. He delivered eulogies for George Floyd, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Trayvon Martin, mobilizing public attention to each case, and hosts the daily MSNBC program PoliticsNation as well as a nationally syndicated radio show. He sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004.
