Alan Richard Michaels is an American sportscaster whose call of the 1980 Winter Olympics ice hockey "Miracle on Ice"—"Do you believe in miracles? Yes!"—is among the most famous moments in U.S. sports broadcasting history. Across more than five decades on network television he has called play-by-play for the World Series, Super Bowls, Olympics, NBA Finals, and Stanley Cup Finals, anchoring ABC's Monday Night Football for two decades and NBC's Sunday Night Football thereafter. He has won numerous Sports Emmy Awards and was inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame in 2009.
