Alfonso Ramón López was a Spanish-American Major League Baseball catcher and manager whose 17-year managerial career with the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox produced two American League pennants—1954 with Cleveland and 1959 with Chicago—the only AL pennants won between 1949 and 1964 by any team other than the New York Yankees. He played 1,950 games as a catcher across 19 seasons and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977.
