Albert Leornes Greene, known professionally as Al Green, is an American singer, songwriter, and pastor whose early-1970s soul recordings—including "Tired of Being Alone," "I'm Still in Love with You," "Take Me to the River," and his signature "Let's Stay Together"—are foundational works of Memphis soul. He has sold more than 20 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. After being ordained in 1976 he combined recording with pastoral work at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Memphis, and was honored with the Kennedy Center Honors in 2014.
