Albert Arnold Gore Jr. served as the 45th vice president of the United States from 1993 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton, and previously represented Tennessee in both houses of Congress. The Democratic nominee in the 2000 presidential election, he won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College after the Supreme Court halted Florida's recount. He has since become one of the world's most prominent advocates for action on climate change, sharing the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with the IPCC and reaching a global audience through his Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth.
