Allen R. Davis was the longtime principal owner and de facto general manager of the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League from 1972 until his death in 2011. He filed three lawsuits against his own league to enable him to relocate the franchise and to fight an NFL salary structure he disliked, repeatedly disrupting league operations and earning a reputation as one of professional sports' most adversarial owners. His later years were marked by dysfunction at the Raiders' coaching and front-office levels, including a public feud with head coach Lane Kiffin that ended in Kiffin's mid-season firing.
