Adolph Green was an American lyricist and playwright whose six-decade collaboration with Betty Comden produced screenplays and songs for canonical Broadway and Hollywood musicals including Singin' in the Rain, On the Town, The Band Wagon, and Bells Are Ringing. The pair received four Tony Awards, two Academy Award nominations, and the 1991 Kennedy Center Honors, making them the longest-running creative partnership in Broadway musical-theater history. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1980.
