Otto Adolf Eichmann was a German-Austrian SS officer and one of the principal organizers of the Holocaust, responsible for the logistics of the deportations of Jews from across Nazi-occupied Europe to the death camps. He participated in the January 1942 Wannsee Conference at which the Final Solution was operationalized. After fleeing to Argentina under a false identity in 1950 he was kidnapped by Mossad agents in 1960, tried in Jerusalem, convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity, and hanged in 1962—the only judicial execution Israel has ever carried out.
