Adam Charles Clayton is an English-Irish musician who has been the bass guitarist of the rock band U2 since the group's formation in Dublin in 1976. Across 15 studio albums—including The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and All That You Can't Leave Behind—his bass work has anchored one of the best-selling rock acts in history, with U2 selling more than 175 million records worldwide. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
