Abdul Qadir Khan was a Pakistani cricketer regarded as the player who almost single-handedly revived the art of leg-spin bowling in international cricket during the 1980s, when the discipline had nearly disappeared from the sport. Across 67 Tests for Pakistan he took 236 wickets with a vivid range of googlies, flippers, and top-spinners, including 9 for 56 against England at Lahore in 1987—then the best figures by any Pakistani in a Test innings. He served as a mentor to a generation of leg-spinners including Australia's Shane Warne.
