Aaron Wells Peirsol is an American former competition swimmer and backstroke specialist who won five Olympic gold medals across three Games from 2000 to 2008, alongside two silvers. He held the world record in the 100-metre backstroke and remains the long-course world-record holder in the 200-metre backstroke. A seven-time World Champion, he has been inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
